Xianhe Constance Liu
Director
Pianist and educator Xianhe Constance Liu believes that music education extends far beyond learning to play an instrument. She views music study as a long-term process that nurtures not only musicianship, but also confidence, independence, resilience, and personal growth. Through classical music training, she emphasizes a solid technical foundation, musical understanding and appreciation, and the development of each student as an individual. Her goal is to help students become capable and thoughtful musicians while cultivating qualities that can benefit them throughout their lives.
Constance holds a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Musicology from China Conservatory of Music. With more than fifteen years of private teaching experience, she has taught students from preschool age through adolescence and adulthood. Drawing from her educational experiences in both China and the United States, Constance brings a cross-cultural perspective to her teaching.
As the founder and director of Constance Piano Studio in Honolulu, Constance devotes much of her time to teaching. She is also actively involved in Hawaiʻi’s music community through competitions, auditions, student recitals, and community performances. Her students frequently participate in HMTA programs, piano auditions, and other local, national, and international music events. They have received awards in competitions including the Hawaiʻi State Music Competition and Osaka International Music Competition.
Constance is committed to creating meaningful opportunities for young musicians to learn, perform, grow, and develop a lifelong relationship with music.
