Biography

Pianist Monica Chung is a concert pianist, producer, music director, and teacher. She made her solo debut with the North Carolina Piedmont Triad Symphony Orchestra at the young age of 10 as a result of winning 1st prize in the Concerto Competition. She has appeared as a soloist with orchestras in London, Hungary, New York, and St. Petersburg in Russia under the baton of the late Sviatoslav Luther.

An active chamber musician and soloist, she has participated in festivals around the world including but not limited to: the Banff Chamber Music Festival; International Musicians Seminar (IMS) in Prussia Cove, England; Puigcerda International Music Festival in Spain; Ecoles d’Art Americaines de Fontainebleau in France; Tel-Hai International Masterclasses in Israel; Leipzig International Music Festival; International Keyboard Institute Festival (IKIF); Beethoven Institute and Festival. Monica is the founder of the series A Night of Chamber Music with Ensemble Henrietta.

As a music director, Monica can be found in the musical theatre community, most recently as music director for Kauai Community Players’ production of Sweeney Todd. Presently, she enjoys advising the Kauai Concert Association, producing concerts, co-directing Sing Out Kauai, and teaching a select group of talented young pianists.
