Biography
Born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan, Joyce Shih is a devoted piano teacher who has been teaching in Hawaii for decades. Joyce teaches students of all ages and is very patient and nurturing. Besides teaching, Joyce enjoys attending classical music concerts and encourages students to attend live classical music concerts, to help shape life-growth perspective.
Joyce’s private studio provides the finest instruments, facilities, and quality instruction, and her students regularly perform in competitions, recitals, and retirement homes. Hard work and discipline are qualities Joyce prioritizes in her teaching, and as a result, her top students have won prizes in the Hawaii Music Teachers Association’s annual competitions, and received scholarships from the Morning Music Club in Hawaii. Joyce believes in installing in everyone, a love for music, and is proud that her students have gone on to pursue careers not only in music, but also in medicine, law, journalism, engineering, architecture, and more.
Joyce Shih received her B.M. from National Taiwan University of Arts and has been a participant at the Summer Academy at Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria for 5 summers.
