Biography

A member of the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra since 1994, Anna Womack has been teaching violin and viola for over 25 years. In addition to her private studio, she is instructor of viola at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and regularly performs with organizations such as Chamber Music Hawaii, Pacific International Concert Artists (PICA), the Lutheran Church of Honolulu’s Bach Chamber Orchestra, and the UH Faculty String Quartet. She and her husband, composer Donald Reid Womack, have two children, both of whom participated fully in the Suzuki string tradition from the age of four through high school. As both teacher and parent of strings students, Anna understands the challenges and joys of finding the best ways to communicate with students, and the importance of practicing daily with a child. Outside of music, Anna enjoys tennis and hiking in her spare time.

This directory is service provided to teaching members of the Hawaii Music Teachers Association and to the Hawaii community. While HMTA will do its best to connect Hawaii violin students with local violin teachers, the responsibility for fulfillment and content of violin lessons, as well as safety, rests solely with the individual teachers. If you are a violin teacher in Hawaii and would like to be listed in this directory, please consider becoming a member.
