“Students need customized approaches to learning so you will find me teaching both a competition focused musician as well as one who only interested in Top 40 music. Within my piano teaching, my students will learn the normal solo repertoire, but will also focus on ensemble playing with other pianists or other instruments. Within my voice coaching, I can concentrate on story - without one, there is no reason to watch anyone sing or perform.”
I studied at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University in Montreal. I continued my studies with certificates in German Lieder in Vienna, French Art Song in Paris, and Opera Repetiteur in Italy.

Maika’i Nash has just recently returned home to Honolulu after a 20-year career abroad as an operatic vocal coach, pianist, and arts administrator. He enjoys performing and working with many groups in the city including the Hawaii Symphony, Diamond Head Theatre, Manoa Valley Theatre, and the newly formed Sovereign Strings Hawaiian group, under the direction of Aaron Mahi. He spent the majority of his time in Toronto, Montreal and Bogota, Colombia but is thrilled to be making music back in his home town. In fact, he is launching a new performing arts company in the Fall of 2019 called HIartsLAB with a mission to unite multiple types of art forms in each performance and by utilizing as many found locations as venues as possible. Stay tuned for launch information.
This directory is service provided to teaching members of the Hawaii Music Teachers Association and to the Hawaii community. While HMTA will do its best to connect Hawaii piano students with local piano teachers, the responsibility for fulfillment and content of piano lessons, as well as safety, rests solely with the individual teachers. If you are a piano teacher in Hawaii and would like to be listed in this directory, please consider becoming a member.
