Memorization is required for Piano and String Entrants. Memorization is not required for Woodwinds.
Concerti may only be performed by non-pianists.
Excluding unaccompanied compositions, String and Wind Entrants must perform with accompaniment. Any resulting accompanist fees are the sole responsibility of the Entrant.
Entrants are encouraged to perform complete pieces/movements.
Pre-approval of cuts is not required. However, please keep in mind that excessive cuts (especially in the solo part) may detract from the overall presentation of the Entrant. All cuts (including repeats, D.S. and D.C. sections) must be clearly marked in the judges’ scores.
Each Entrant must provide to the judges one (1) copy of the score for each piece performed. Measure numbers must be marked at the beginning of each line. Please present your scores at the registration desk on the day of the competition.
By entering the competitions, Entrants agree to abide by all Federal Copyright Laws. Photocopies are strongly discouraged.
Programs exceeding the time limit may be cut at the judges’ discretion (does not affect results).
No changes in repertoire are allowed following the submission of the application.
The judges may designate 1st Place, 2nd Place, 3rd Place and Honorable Mention winners in each level and instrument division.
1st-Place winners in each of the four Young Artist divisions will receive $200 cash prizes, presented at the Honors Concert.
The judges may also recognize outstanding performances including, but not limited to:
Music of a composer (e.g. J.S. Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, etc.)
Music of a period (e.g. Classical, Romantic, 21st Century, etc.)
All judges’ decisions are final.
