Applications for the 2019 Hawaiʻi State Music Competition will open on July 15, 2019. Unlike previous years, applications will be submitted by parents, and not teachers.

If the Entrant’s teacher is not a HMTA member in good standing, there is a non-member surcharge of $60/entrant.

  1. Read HMTA’s release form.

  2. Prepare a photo of the Entrant.

    1. Photos up to 5 MB accepted.

    2. Please shoot in Portrait orientation.

    3. Faces only (no instruments) preferred.

    4. Smartphone photos are acceptable.

    5. Please use the example photo as a guide.

  3. Be prepared to enter your musical selections including:

    1. Composer

    2. Title

    3. Opus Number (if applicable)

    4. Key (if applicable)

    5. Movements (if applicable)

      Example: Sonata in C Major, Op. 1, Mvmts. 1 & 2

  4. STRINGS & WOODWINDS: Be prepared to enter your accompanist’s First Name, Last Name and email address.

  5. Apply via Tenuto Web. You will be prompted to pay application fee via PayPal.
