Dr. Nikki Routman Ebisu

Violinist Dr. Nikki (Routman) Ebisu enjoys a multi-faceted career as teacher and performer, and is in large demand as a Japanese bilingual instructor. She is currently a violinist with the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra, and Director of the Violin Artistry Studio, a Suzuki Method School in Honolulu. Dr. Ebisu is in the final stages of becoming a Suzuki Method teacher trainer for the Suzuki Association of America. Dr. Ebisu is also an active member of SAH and HASTA.

Dr. Ebisu was raised in Tokyo, Japan and began violin at age 4, studying violin with the founder of the Suzuki Method, Dr. Shinichi Suzuki and his apprentices. She was accepted into the Toho Academy of Music's Pre-College division in Tokyo at age 9 to study with violist Sumiko Edo. Dr. Ebisu holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music & Pre-Medicine from the University of Texas at Austin, and her Masters and Doctorate degrees in Violin Performance from the University of Colorado at Boulder. 

When she is not teaching or performing, she enjoys spending time with her husband Darren and kids, Andrew (age 7) and Madeline (age 5).
